The latest figures from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) show at the end of August 2024, nearly 1.7 million older people were receiving additional financial support through Attendance Allowance , including 150,000 living in Scotland. ‌

The benefit provides either £73.90 or £110.40 every week and as it is typically paid every four weeks, this amounts to either £295.60 or £441.60 every pay period. ‌

The level of weekly payment someone receives depends on the level of care they need. DWP guidance explains if you need “frequent help or constant supervision during the day, or supervision at night” you will receive the lower rate of £73.90 and if you need “help or supervision throughout both day and night, or a medical professional has said you’re nearing the end
