CHESTER — A fugitive from Massillon who had crossed into West Virginia during a police chase Sunday night was arrested by Chester police.
According to Chester Police Chief Chuck Stanley, a Columbiana County sheriff’s deputy had identified a vehicle Sunday night while routinely patrolling on state Route 39 in East Liverpool from an active alert issued earlier by Massillon police.
The deputy and an East Liverpool police unit attempted to execute a felony traffic stop on the allegedly stolen vehicle driven by Van Keith Jones II, who had been sought on numerous felony charges of robbery, intimidation of a witness, strangulation, violation of a protection order, theft and domestic violence from an earlier incident.
