ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Hundreds of cyclists from across the country will take on routes around Cayuga Lake this weekend as the Southern Tier AIDS Program (STAP) hosts its 27th annual AIDS Ride for Life.
The ride begins Saturday, Sept. 6, at Stewart Park in Ithaca, with participants pedaling anywhere from 14 to 100 miles. Riders will check in at 6 a.m., and the event officially kicks off at 7 a.m. Along the way, cyclists will be supported by seven pit stops stocked with food, water, and volunteers, as well as safety vehicles on the course.
The AIDS Ride for Life is STAP’s largest fundraising event of the year. Proceeds help fund HIV and AIDS services across the Southern Tier, while also supporting LGBTQ+ youth programs at the Identity Youth Center and syringe exchange participants.
