TRINITY COUNTY, Calif. - Firefighters in Trinity County have been working tirelessly to combat the Peak and Lick Fires, now collectively referred to as the Swift Complex.
Both fires, which were sparked by lightning, have burned a combined total of 524 acres.
The Peak Fire, which began on August 25, has burned 488 acres with five percent containment. The Lick Fire started on August 29 and has burned 36 acres with one percent containment.
The United States Forest Service says that firefighters and the Incident Management Team are working around the clock implementing full suppression tactics across both the Peak and Lick Fires. Crews are strengthening containment lines on the ground, while aerial resources support suppression efforts from above.
