BATON ROUGE, La. (WGMB) — The Second Amendment Weekend Sales Tax Holiday is scheduled to run from Friday, Sept. 5, through Sunday, Sept. 7.
Hunters in Louisiana will be able to buy various items such as ammunition, guns and specific hunting supplies without paying state or local taxes.
"Firearms eligible for the sales tax exemption include shotguns, rifles, pistols, revolvers or other handguns which may be legally sold or purchased in Louisiana," according to the Louisiana Department of Revenue.
The eligible hunting supplies include "archery items, hunting apparel and certain types of knives," the department said.
It said this exemption has to do with individual consumer purchases. Business or commercial purchases are not eligible.
