A Sale Creek man is facing animal cruelty and assault charges after shooting a dog and later aiming the gun at a child.
Hamilton County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Lloyd Trail after receiving a call about a weapon disorder on Monday, according to an affidavit obtained by Local 3 News.
Deputies learned that the suspect, Matthew Barlow, had left the scene in a white Cadillac. They spotted him in the parking lot of a store on Dayton Pike.
Authorities made contact with him while he was sitting in the passenger seat. Barlow admitted to shooting the dog for killing one of his pigs.
He told them the dog was still alive, but that he had no intention of taking the dog to an animal hospital for its bullet wound.
