Rain and thunderstorms will move through Michigan Wednesday, Sept. 3, accompanied with cooler temperatures, but officials don't expect severe weather as the cold front passes.

" Showers and a few storms move into northern Mich(igan) today . Breezy. Much cooler weather will end the work week," the National Weather Service in Gaylord said. "The next chance for more widespread rain will be late Thursday night into Friday morning."

Hazardous weather outlooks are in place across the state for thunderstorms producing wind gusts up to 40 mph, and locally heavy rain is possible.

Rain in the Lower Peninsula is predicted to develop in the afternoon on Sept. 3 with forecasts calling for rain after 5 p.m. in Detroit; between 2-5 p.m. in Lansing; and between 4-5 p.m. in Coldwater.
