INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - Investigators release the man of the man shot and killed after police say he pointed a gun at officers over the weekend.

Gary K. Cusick , 68, of Independence died Sunday morning.

Investigators said the shooting happened after Independence police responded to a call at an apartment building east of E. Truman Rd. and S. Sterling Ave.

Police said officers found Cusick alone in the backseat of a car. The officers reported Cusick became agitated and pulled a firearm.

The officers told Cusick to drop the weapon, but he did not comply according to police. The officers then shot and killed Cusick.
