VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Beach Police Benevolent Association (VBPBA) is distancing itself from its statewide counterpart and publicly endorsing a slate of Republican candidates, including Winsome Earle-Sears for governor.

In a post on X Friday morning, the local association said it was not affiliated with the Virginia Police Benevolent Association (VAPBA) and wanted to “clear up a misconception that occurs often, especially during election year.”

“We represent Virginia Beach law enforcement professionals only, and make no claim to other jurisdictions,” the statement read. “Any information, including political endorsements, coming from the [state or Southern States PBA] are not reflective of the Virginia Beach PBA, and vice versa.”
