Arrest made in fatal hit-and-run crash in Iberville Parish

An arrest was made Wednesday in connection with a pedestrian death on La. 75 in Plaquemine, Louisiana State Police said.

Troopers were notified by local law enforcement shortly before 7 a.m. that a body had been found on the side of the road in the 30800 block of La. 75, a State Police spokesman said.

"Parts of a vehicle were found near the body, and, through investigation, troopers developed a vehicle description. An arrest was made," Trooper Shelby Mayfield, spokesperson for the State Police.

No further details were immediately available, pending notification of next of kin for the victim, Mayfield said shortly after noon.
