The town manager recently offered school officials an alternative to a full planning board review of the $250 million school construction projects.

Phil Hervey, in an Aug. 19 letter, provided a path for administrative approval of the projects.

“To position the town to issue permits for the project, the town is requiring submission of site plans and related information that comply with the Land Development and Subdivision Regulations design standards and checklist requirements for the preliminary and final plan review stages,” Hervey wrote.

Instead of the projects going before the planning board, they would be sent to Herb Durfee, the town’s director of planning, building and resilience. Durfee said he would conduct the plan review process in public. The sessions would
