A Baton Rouge man was arrested Wednesday for his alleged involvement in a shooting that left a pregnant mother and her unborn child dead.

Alex Burns, 28, was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Baton Rouge Police homicide detectives were assisted by the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Recovery Service in making the arrest.

Burns is accused of shooting and killing 29-year-old Kimberlyn Martin on the morning of July 27, outside her Highland Road apartment. She was a mother of three young girls, and nine months pregnant at the time. Her boyfriend was also shot during the incident, but survived.
