HINGHAM, Mass. —
Passersby climbed through a sunroof to rescue a toddler from a hot car in a Hingham parking lot Monday afternoon, according to police.
Officers were sent at 2:31 p.m. to the Whole Foods parking lot at 94 Derby St. after a couple who parked next to the vehicle heard a child screaming for their mother and called 9-1-1, according to a Hingham Police Department statement. Latest Forecast

According to police, the child was strapped in a car seat in the back, the windows were closed, the engine was off and the sunroof was open.
"Seeing the child in distress, the couple climbed into the sunroof, unlocked the car, and took the child out while officers were responding," the department's statement said.
