KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department is asking for the public’s help in solving the 2022 shooting death of a 17-year-old.

On Sept. 2, 2022, officers responded to the intersection of Washington Avenue and Mitchell Street, where Amilcar Martinez had been shot, KPD said.

Investigators determined Martinez was a passenger in a Ford Edge traveling west on Washington Avenue. When the car stopped at a red light, another vehicle pulled up behind it, and someone inside opened fire, according to KPD.

Three years later, KPD said it's still pursuing active leads, but no arrests have been made in connection with the case.

If you have any information, contact the KPD's Homicide Unit at (865) 215-7317 or East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at (865) 215-7165.
