ALCOA, Tenn. — Some of the planes and hangars at Sky Ranch Airport in the Alcoa area suffered significant damage from Thursday's storms.

Stephen Abrew, a member of the East Tennessee Flying Club and a flight instructor at Sky Ranch, said several planes and hangars were affected.

“This one here is damaged. That one got damaged. Those in the back there got damaged and the ones in the hangars down here where the hangars collapsed,” Abrew said.

He said he came straight to the airport to check on everyone’s safety.

“I just came down to be sure that nobody was hurt. Unfortunately, we got some aircraft damaged here, but the main thing is nobody’s been hurt,” Abrew said.

He said most of the aircraft should be repairable, except for one derelict plane that was already out of service.
