As Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, many in Alabama are pondering a classic fashion question: Can you wear white after Labor Day?

Traditionally, wearing white after Labor Day was frowned upon, a trend that started in the late 1800s as a symbol of wealth and leisure.

"Of course you can wear white after Labor Day, on Labor Day, and before Labor Day," said one Alabama resident.

Another person shared, "Fashion changes, and I think people's perspective on it should as well."

The practice of avoiding white after Labor Day faded in the 1960s and 70s. Today, fashion experts emphasize wearing appropriate fabrics for the weather and occasion over adhering to old color rules.

"You should wear what you want to wear," said a passerby.
