Huntsville is gearing up for a significant influx of people with the upcoming establishment of the Space Command headquarters. Mayor Tommy Battle announced that this move is expected to bring about 1,400 jobs to the area over the next five years.

Battle said that approximately 60% of these new residents will live outside Huntsville's city limits. He emphasized that the city's current growth rate of about 7,000 people annually makes this influx manageable.

"We're working on a lot of different road packages all across the North Alabama area and I think what it does is it helps the whole North Alabama area," Battle said.
