(KBTX) - Former Texas A&M quarterback Haynes King was named The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week for the first week of the college football season.

Now at Georgia Tech, King rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries (8.2 avg.) against Colorado. It was a new career high for rushing yards in a single game and his fourth 100-yard rushing game in 25 games at Georgia Tech.

King’s 45-yard touchdown run with 1:07 left in the game proved to be the game-winner as the Yellow Jackets took down Colorado 27-20.

Two current A&M players were named honorable mentions for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week: quarterback Marcel Reed and wide receiver Mario Craver.
