HACKENSACK, N.J. (PIX11) — A man is accused of setting fire to multiple police cars in a New Jersey municipal parking lot on Saturday, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced.

Jaime Magnelli Sr., 78, now faces multiple charges, including arson, as a result of an investigation by the prosecutor's office into what authorities called a "suspicious" fire.

The parking lot at 78 Trinity Place in Hackensack is used as an overflow parking area for city police vehicles. According to police, officers responded to the area just after 8 p.m. on Saturday, where three marked police vehicles were in flames.

The investigation revealed that Magnelli Sr. allegedly walked up to the cars and poured an accelerant on the vehicles to ignite the fire. Detectives said that the police cars were very clos
