NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) -- With Labor Day in the rearview, all eyes are on November and the election of New Jersey's next governor.

Democratic candidate Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill, in a meet-and-greet on Wednesday in Newark, received one of her biggest endorsements yet: one from her former primary opponent and Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka.

Her speech ranged from issues like homeownership to Black maternal health. The Congresswoman also called on Democratic voters to unite.

"I know that the only way we lose this race in New Jersey is if democrats don't vote in New Jersey," said Sherrill. "If we get divided, if we are not together, if we don't stand up for the things we believe in, the communities we want to serve, that's the only way we lose."
