AUSTIN, Texas — A man has been arrested for driving while intoxicated in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian on Interstate 35 in North Austin on Saturday night.
According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded to a crash involving multiple vehicles and a pedestrian in the 6100 block of N. I-35 southbound, near U.S. 290, around 11:36 p.m. on Aug. 30.
An unidentified man was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of one of the vehicles, later identified as 33-year-old Jarrel A. Broussard, was arrested for DWI.
The incident is being investigated as Austin’s 69th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 73 deaths. On the date of this crash in 2024, 59 crashes resulted in 64 deaths.
