BATON ROUGE, La. (KALB) - Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill announced on Wednesday, September 3, that the State of Louisiana seeks to challenge the SCOTUS precedent set by Roper v. Simmons in an attempt to reinstate the death sentence for Dale Dwayne Craig .

According to AG Murrill, Craig was convicted on October 23, 1994, for the murder of 18-year-old LSU Freshman Kipp E. Gullet.

The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office said Craig psychologically tortured Kipp before shooting him in the head.

In a press release, the La. AG’s Office stated the following:

“Craig marched Kipp at gunpoint into ‘a secluded construction site.’ There, Craig struck him with the gun, causing Kipp to fall to the ground ‘in a fetal position.’ As Kipp lay there, Craig ‘knelt at his side and fired three b
