ST. PAUL — The Minnesota House on Wednesday, Sept. 3, released the results of the annual Minnesota State Fair poll, which polled fairgoers on debates familiar to the state Legislature.

The poll, conducted by Minnesota House Public Information Services, a nonpartisan entity of the House, gathered the opinions of 9,945 fairgoers on issues lawmakers have previously debated and could take up again. One of those questions was whether the Minnesota Capitol should ban guns — something recently under question following the Minnesota lawmaker shootings in June.

The poll found that 79% support banning guns in the Capitol, while 17% oppose a ban. Minnesotans currently can carry in the Capitol with a valid permit to do so, according to state law.
