DIXIE COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB) - A crash claimed the life of a Dixie County Middle and High School student yesterday.

Savannah Langford, 16, was driving on U.S. 19 when her vehicle collided with a semi truck that was parked in the middle of the travel lane.

“It’s a tragedy because she’s too young, and why was a semi parked in the middle of the road?” resident Karean Hemingway said.

The deadly crash occurred on U.S. 19, where the semi truck was parked on the highway. Langford was unable to stop in time. We contacted the Florida Highway Patrol to ask why the truck was parked, but they have not yet provided any answer.
