OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - A new way of getting around is coming to Ocala.
City leaders just approved a trolley to come to Downtown Ocala.
There would be one trolley with a 30-minute route starting at Southeast Broadway Street near the parking garage, taking people all over downtown right from their cars.
City spokesperson Greg Davis says this is a joint project with FDOT. Both the city and FDOT put up more than $100,000 for the trolley.
Davis says new tracks won’t have to be put down, but it will be a streetcar.
“We are planning on doing a soft launch hopefully this month,” said Davis. “We don’t actually have the trolley yet, but we’ll do a soft launch with a regular bus doing the route. The actual trolley should be here in March.”
