A student at South Polk Elementary School is being disciplined by the school after making comments about bringing a gun to school and later being found with an empty shell casing.
When administration became aware of the matter, they isolated and questioned the student, according to the Polk County Director of Schools Dr. James Jones.
"At no point was a gun or live ammunition present on campus, and at no time were students or staff placed in danger," Jones stated in a Facebook post.
The school district says they believe it's important to keep families informed and want to maintain transparency:
