Summerland will be dividing point in the Okanagan between blue and grey skies this week, the provincial government says.
An air quality warning is in effect for much of the province due to out-of-control wildfires.
“Smoke haze will be present across the majority of the B.C. landscape and can be highly variable,’ the government said in the warning.
“During a wildfire, smoke conditions can change quickly over short distances and can vary considerably hour by hour,” it said.
A map accompanying the warning showed the Central and North Okanagan as being grey, but from Summerland south the skies were clear. The smoke predicted for the central and northern parts of the valley was expected to come from fires burning on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border near Manning Provincial Park.
