COLUMBIA, S.C. — State lawmakers are calling on the South Carolina Department of Education to modernize its operations as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity reshape the education system.
The discussion came Wednesday during a Legislative Oversight Committee meeting , part of the General Assembly’s routine review of state agencies to evaluate efficiency and performance.
Committee members pressed education officials to make the department more efficient and adapt to the rapid changes technology is bringing to classrooms and state offices.
