A South Carolina woman has been jailed after allegedly trying to enter a high school with a handgun in her fanny pack.

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office said on Thursday that 39-year-old Tanesha Anissa Addison Bennett of Pawleys Island was taken into custody by a school resource officer after being found with a gun at Waccamaw High School.

Authorities stated that she triggered an alarm and was stopped by a security monitor before she could access the building.

A search revealed a Glock handgun, which the woman said she forgot was in the pack. She was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon on school property. Georgetown County Sheriff Carter Weaver said the security system, staff and deputies each did their part to keep the campus secure.
