ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions did not practice on Wednesday. But the team released their estimated practice report, offering the first injury updates to open the regular season.

Linebacker Trevor Nowaske (elbow) and running back Sione Vaki (hamstring) were the only two players estimated as completely out. Nowaske and Vaki were not spotted at Tuesday’s practice open to reporters, so no surprise there.

This update does provide some clarity on each’s situation. Nowaske’s injury was not known, as his absence from practice was a surprise. It also confirms that Vaki is dealing with another hamstring injury after missing the preseason finale. Vaki had a challenging training camp, going down with a hamstring injury, making his way back and then suffering another hamstring issue.
