For a group of offenders at Coweta County Prison, a recent ceremony marked more than the end of a program. It signaled the beginning of a second chance.

Dressed in caps and gowns, 25 offenders received their General Educational Development diplomas, while nine others completed welding certifications through a training course offered in partnership with West Georgia Technical College.

Both programs aim to provide education, skills and confidence that can pave the way toward a brighter future.

“We want them to leave here with more than just time served,” said Warden Jeff Rogers. “We want them to leave with skills, confidence, direction and an opportunity at a better future.”
