“The Conjuring: Last Rites” is a family drama masquerading as a demonic possession horror film. It’s not particularly scary, but it works because we’re now fully invested in the Warrens and the toll that their work as paranormal investigators has on their marriage and their sensitive daughter, Judy.

There’s a right way to rewatch all the films in the “Conjuring” universe. While you can watch them again in the order they were released, starting with 2013’s “The Conjuring,” some diehards have elected to go with the in-universe timeline. Therefore, your spooky journey might start with 2018’s “The Nun,” which is set in 1952, moving from there to “The Nun II,” taking place in 1956.
