HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — K-9 Cutter of the Connecticut State Capitol Police Department has died, the department said on Wednesday.
Cutter served for over a decade, according to his handler officer Michael Bermudez.
"Cutter was more than a K9 partner—he was a guardian of the Capitol, a protector of the Connecticut General Assembly, and like family to all who worked here," the department said. "His loyalty, service, and presence will never be forgotten."
"Having him with me in the field gave me confidence knowing that we were keeping the public safe together," Bermudez said. "Beyond his service, Cutter had a gentle, steady presence that reminded everyone who met him of the special bond between a handler and their K9 partner."
