AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Augusta Canal is just one of the things we’re working to get back to normal after Hurricane Helene changed everything for our area.

And it’s not gonna be cheap. We’re talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars in work to restore the canal to its former state, including its role in generating power.

For centuries, the Savannah Rapids trails have provided serenity to the CSRA, but most of the path has been closed.

‘The Patch’ is one step closer to opening next spring

The beloved Patch is trading worn fairways for fresh Bermuda grass.

“Surprisingly, like one of the first things I wanted to do outside of getting food and gas and everything else. After everything settled down, I wanted to just come out here,” said Crystal Peters, lives in Evans.
