The displaced chair of the Thames Valley District school board is pushing back against sweeping new regulations from Queen’s Park that she says will silence any “community voice” in educational affairs.

Chair Beth Mai, who lost her power when the London-area board was put under supervision by the Ontario government last April, and several other trustees are hosting a virtual event opposing Bill 33 on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“The provincial government is seriously considering changes that will impact how education happens in our local community,” Mai wrote on her website. “This is expected to happen quickly this fall. Changes will impact you.”
