Ontario Provincial Police say they are investigating two separate false emergency calls , known as swatting, that took place in Haldimand County over the past two days.
The first incident happened Tuesday around 8:10 p.m. when officers from the Haldimand detachment responded to a report of a bomb threat at a residence on Haldimand Rd. 53 near Jarvis, 40 km south of Brantford.
The second call came Wednesday at approximately 1:35 p.m., when officers went to a local school after receiving a similar report. The school was placed into lockdown as a precaution , police said.
In both the cases after emergency services arrived, it was determined the calls were false and no actual emergency existed, police said.
Emergency call fraud, police added, has serious consequences.
“Once a false e
