MINNEAPOLIS — New details are coming to light on what may have motivated the gunman at Annunciation Catholic Church .
The shooter appears to fit the profile of a new type of criminal becoming so pervasive that the FBI and Justice Department have created a new classification for it called Nihilistic Violent Extremist.
In his 30 years with the FBI, retired Special Agent in Charge Nick O'Hara dealt with criminals with destructive mindsets who killed by other means.
"We didn't have school shootings," O'Hara said. "We had aircraft hijackings. We had tampering with consumer products."
But O'Hara recognizes the type of criminal now classified by the FBI as "Nihilistic Violent Extremists."
