WASHINGTON — In a remarkable display of bipartisanship, House of Representatives members from both parties came together Wednesday to introduce a bill that would ban individual stock trades by members of Congress. The Restore Trust in Congress Act combines several previously unsuccessful bills to stop lawmakers from profiting off insider information.
“We have the opportunity before us to answer the mandate givien to us by the American people with respect to banning stock trading in Congress, and we should not waste time,” Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, said during a press conference to introduce the bill.
