COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported Wednesday a slight decrease in fatal crashes during the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer” this year.

The time period runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day when fatal crashes spike, particularly among teen drivers and motorcyclists, along with increased traffic and serious injury crashes.

According to OSHP, there were 339 fatal crashes, which resulted in 370 deaths, during this year’s timeframe — a 7% reduction from 2024. There were 25 fewer fatal crashes and 23 fewer fatalities compared to last year.

The state highway patrol also recorded 1,703 serious injury crashes, a 17% decrease from 2024.
