MANCHESTER, N.H. —

The Boston Red Sox's hopes for a deep playoff run took a hit after rookie outfielder Roman Anthony strained his left oblique.

Anthony suffered the injury Tuesday while striking out in the fourth inning against the Cleveland Guardians.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Anthony could miss four to six weeks while recovering.

The 21-year-old, who was called up to the majors in June, was named American League Rookie of the Month in August after batting .304 with six home runs and 13 RBIs in 26 games.

Since Anthony joined the Red Sox on June 9, the team has had a record of 46-26.
