GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Fairgoers enjoyed plenty of ice cream at the Nebraska State Fair this year while supporting local nonprofits through the Heartland United Way’s “Scoops Ice Cream Parlor.”
The parlor benefits more than a dozen community partners. Over the course of the 11-day fair, volunteers sold 12,218 cones, cups and coffee floats. That was 20 tubs more ice cream than last year.
Nearly 800 volunteer hours helped make it happen.
“We cannot thank you enough for your time, your enthusiasm, and your support,” said Sharon Placke, finance director for Heartland United Way. “Every scoop makes a difference for our partner agencies, and you truly help keep this tradition alive.”
Scoops will return during the Aksarben Stock Show, Sept. 26-28. To sign up to volunteer, click here .
