Nineteen members and associates of a Jersey City gang have been charged for their involvement with a drug trafficking ring, the U.S. attorney for the district of New Jersey announced Wednesday.

The charges include conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, including 40 grams or more of fentanyl, 28 grams of crack cocaine, heroin, cocaine, PCP and various prescription pills, officials said.

Authorities said 16 defendants were arrested and had their initial court appearances on Wednesday afternoon in Newark federal court. One defendant was already in custody on state charges and two defendants remain at large.
