OMAHA, Neb. —

A federal judge ordered the release on bond for three Glenn Valley Foods detainees on Tuesday.

Sabina Carmona-Lorenzo, Ernesto Cortes Fernandez, and Diego Palma Perez appeared in court after being detained during the Glenn Valley Foods workplace investigation. One of Carmona-Lorenzo’s five children attended the hearing. She kept scanning the audience until he came in. When she made eye contact with him, she cried tears of joy.

“I am so excited that she is going to be reunited with her family, with her five children, with her husband today,” said Grant Friedman, staff attorney for the ACLU of Nebraska, who represented Carmona-Lorenzo in a joint hearing for the three detainees.
