The Paducah Police Department is warning of continuing scams in the area.

The Police Department says that scammers are using phone calls, texting, and emails, pretending to be from government agencies.

Scammers may claim that a person owes money, be threatened with arrest, or be promised benefits.

However, according to police, all of this is a scam, as government agencies will never demand payment over the phone or ask for gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency.

They encourage the public to hang up if something feels suspicious, and contact the agency directly using a verified phone number.

The Police Department reminds everyone to protect themselves and loved ones, and not to fall for government impostor scams.
