Can’t find a COVID vaccine? You’re not alone.
Though the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved updated formulations of the vaccine to combat the virus’ latest variants, inconsistent federal recommendations have led to some pharmacies to refuse to provide the vaccine in New Mexico.
State officials are looking to alter protocols and ease barriers to the vaccine, particularly for people seeking the shot in pharmacies.
The move follows a public health order issued Friday requiring the state Department of Health and Board of Pharmacy to “amend regulations to … ensure access to COVID-19 vaccines at pharmacies across the state,” among other directives.
“The COVID vaccine is safe and effective at preventing disease spread as well as preventing severe outcomes like hospitalization and
