MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Pet parents may want to keep their dogs on a tighter leash - new dog ordinances are coming to Mariposa County.

On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors voted to amend and add ordinances, including the vicious dog ordinance, a permit for multiple pets, and changes to enforcement on barking dogs.

The sheriff's office says the updates will "ensure the safety and health of animals, and provide Animal Control with the tools they need to serve the community effectively."

The new Vicious Dog Ordinance's (Ch. 6.10) purpose is to abate unprovoked attacks on people, other animals, and property damage. It puts misdemeanor liability on owners whose dogs commit those acts and requires dogs deemed vicious to be registered, which includes: permanent ID (tattoo/microch
