Businesses across Dumfries and Galloway are more confident in the economy than they have been for the past three years. ‌

And nearly half of them are aspiring to grow, according to the latest South of Scotland Business Survey. ‌

The latest figures, covering June and July this year, show that 48 per cent of businesses across the south of Scotland are confident in Scotland’s economic outlook – compared to just 37 per cent in late 2024. ‌

It’s the highest level of confidence seen since early 2022.

The survey, which Ipsos carries out on behalf of South of Scotland Enterprise, also shows 42 per cent of firms are looking to grow. 38 per cent are happy at their current level
