The conflict between Dover's political and law enforcement leaders has taken another bizarre turn, after Mayor James Dodd posted a video accusing Chief Jonathan Delaney's police department of illegally wiretapping calls to and from town hall.

Dodd said he had asked county and state authorties to investigate. Delaney, who is already suing the mayor for defamation and harassment , pushed back on Wednesday, saying the department was being smeared by a "misleading narrative." In a video posted Aug. 27 on Facebook, Dodd said he had learned via an Open Public Records Act request of "the recording of telephone calls made to and from town phone lines."
