King Charles gave a rare health update as he spoke to patients at a new hospital .
The 76-year-old was met by cheers from a huge crowd as he arrived to officially open the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital near Birmingham yesterday (September 3).
The King spoke to patients on the acute elderly care wards at the 736-bed facility, in Smethwick, where he joked that he had discovered how 'bits don't work so well once you get past 70'.
While at the hospital, Charles spoke to prostate cancer patient Matthew Shinda, 73, the Express reports .
