We have had fire restrictions and burn bans in effect for quite some time and that will certainly not change today as the fire danger risk worsens. Here's why!
Ahead of our late day rain chances, we will experience fairly low relative humidity values between 25 to 35 percent. That low relative humidity will pair with today's blustery south winds and our ongoing abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions. That trifecta of weather ingredients coupled with lots of dry fuel on the forest floors (leaves, twigs, branches, pine straw, etc.) means that a small fire could burn out of control in an instant. All it takes is one hot ash to fly away, land on that dry fuel, and spark a massive wildfire that puts homes, neighbors, and rescue teams at risk. Make smart decisions today, friends.
